Two odd ideas for the day:
1. I would love to see the results of a study wherein participants were comprehensively demographically profiled, asked to self-report by rank their favorite to least favorite categories of humor (mine, for example, would have "wordplay" and "irony" up top and "mimicry" and "insult" near the bottom), and then offered humorous material and observed (using whatever method could provide best accuracy) to determine their empirical rank. Would their stated preferences match their observed preferences? Would their demographics affect their stated preferences and their actual preferences to differing degrees? What patterns would we see among preferred humor styles and occupations? Geography? IQ? Religion, race, make and model of car?
Someone must have done this already. Does anyone know of such a thing, or am I on my own trying to find it?
2. Clove ice cream. I may be way off base on this one, but it sounds delicious to me. I think I'll have to try it next time I make ice cream.
