I have kittens! That's Shadow on the left and Dylan on the right. They're about six months old and absolutely delightful. I found them on Petfinder.com and drove out to get them a week and a half ago. Also, they're rambunctious little guys, and love to go gallop all over me in the middle of the night. I'm trying to socialize them, and so far it's going well0.2555555555

I harvested my kumquats a few days ago. I got about 3 dozen of them, which doesn't sound like much until you realize that the tree that they came from is only 26" tall. It was tipping over, but I think it's happier now. (For reference, the fruits are about 1.5" long. And isn't that a great colander?)

I got a "sort-of" cold, but I think it's gone now. It made me miss a couple of things that I really wanted to do. I'm extremely ready to be done with this.

Work is going wonderfully, although I had forgotten how incredibly easy systems analysis can be. I've been doing all this weird, nebulous, challenging stuff for so long that I tend to lose track of what other people do. Well, now I'm doing it. Anyway, I love it when I can get things done and checked off.

mizzlaurajean, did you say that you had used Angie's List? I'm contemplating subscribing, and would love to hear your thoughts. Also, when are you and your dear husband coming to meet my kittens?

So anyway, sorry if I missed anything while I fell off the face of the planet. I think I may be back now.

i love angie's list. i've had a subscription for a few years now.

my biggest problem with them is really a problem with my brain-- my most usual question is "huh. wonder who i would call to get X done?" for example, at the moment, i am pondering refinishing my front door. do i call a general handyman? there's a category named doors, but they seem to be all about replacing them. what about painters? putting varnish on is kind of like painting. hm. maybe the same people who refinish furniture."

but if i know what i need, for example, a new plumber, then it's easy to look up who works in my area and what their ratings are.

I had wondered where you had gone, but fresh kitties is always a good excuse. They look quite cute and fuzzy (though older than I'd expect brand new kitties to be). They have one of my favorite fur patterns (others being all black, the "tuxedo" pattern, the tortie/calico "I slept in my fur and it rumpled" look, and orange with black stripes).

I also have been battling a "sort-of" cold for most of the winter. It's been most irritating. I'm glad to hear that it's gone now.

What do you plan to do with the kumquats?
