I'm looking for stuff to do this weekend. Simultaneously seeing good people and hearing good music would be choice #1. Who's playing? Where? When?

Many thanks!

You know, I was asking myself the same question just yesterday. I paged through the City Pages: not much. Van Morrison at the Target Center. Rhett Miller is at First Avenue Saturday night -- anyone know who he is?

I'm curious if you come up with anything.

I see that Todd Snider will be at Mayslack's next Friday; that could be fun. Doesn't help with this weekend, though.

Would you and yours perhaps be up for a dinner excursion if we don't find music?

BTW, I didn't see you at the Dan Bern show a week ago - were you in town?

Also, I'm trying to get together with the Emery clan et. al. to make some music from scratch, but I can't find any of their phone numbers - any chance you could send one or more to me at [myname]-D0T-[mylastname] at, gmail? Come to think of it, I don't believe I have yours, either.

I missed Dan Bern. I heard about it, but it was either Minicon weekend, or there was something else going on.

Dinner might work for Saturday night. We have to review a restaurant South of the Minnesota River, and we're thinking of an Indian place.

Dan Bern was Thursday of Minicon, Richard Shindell was Friday of Minicon. Dangit (wish they were playing this weekend).

In retrospect, Dan Bern would have been more fun than Harlan Ellison was.

I dunno . . .

Now the two of them together, that would've been something.

I would have paid serious money to see that.

Tim Malloys are at Kierans Fri and Saturday (website says "w/ Mulligan").

The Honeydogs are at the 7th Street Entry on Friday and Saturday (but, it's the Entry).

The Ani Difranco show on Saturday night at the Cedar is sold out.

This is one of the really useful things about you.

Very few people of late have been all that interested in what I'm doing musically, but my old bandleader (the guy from whose band I quit to join the brand new one) has the two of us booked at Neisen Brothers Sports Bar in Savage. It's a block or two south of Highway 13, right in the middle of town, between Highway 35 and 169; I have maps printed out at home. We're playing both tonight (Friday) and tomorrow, from 9 to 1:30. He's best known as an Elvis impersonator, but is not currently doing that, and he also considers himself a rockabilly guitarist (but does some old country and a few jazz standards). He actually does sing quite well and doesn't sound that much like Elvis. I do note that you talk about "playing music from scratch" -- sounds like fun. Keep us posted.
