Furniture Restoration

Would anyone be willing to recommend a restorer of antique furniture in Minneapolis? I have several dining room chairs in varying states of disrepair that I'd like to make usable again.

Well, my brother is currently rebuilding my original 40s mahogany dining room chairs and they're coming back sturdy and nice. The additional chairs for our set, the ones with the deeper seats, are ones that he built from a whole pile of crap chairs and refinished to match the original four. His ability to work on hard physical jobs is limited until the end of the month (see our LJ for details) but fixing chairs (wobbly, cracked pieces, refinish, reupholster) is something he is expert in.

I hope he's feeling better soon! I've been looking forward to a chance to meet him and send some work his way. But tell me, should I hold off contacting him while he recuperates, or shall I go ahead and call now so that he knows what's coming? I don't want to bother him unnecessarily.

that's who I was going to recommend, too. I have some upholstery jobs that need an expert as well; no rush.

ackermans.com They did my beloved mahogany couch. They are in Burnsville, but had no problem picking up my couch, even though it was in storage. Expensive, but then, they DID have to create missing toes and veneer for my empire-style, which has been scratched too much by cats, I try not to think about it. So if he doesn't work out, it's an option. I'm wishing they were here because I have a rocking chair in need of care.
