I decided to do my errands on foot today. I wandered down to Dreamhaven, taking my favorite route through Vera's garden.

I bought many books, including the first 4 "Girl Genius" collections (thank you for the new addiction, [livejournal.com profile] lollardfish) and "Deathly Hallows". The sidewalk along that stretch of Lake Street is completely torn up, but the businesses are still accessible to anyone not wearing stiletto heels.

And speaking of shoes, Heavenly Soles is having a big sale, which is great. I didn't find what I was looking for there, which is not.

On the way home, I saw a crowd gathering and (contrary to my usual reaction) veered toward it. Got myself a nice seat for the Art Car parade. [livejournal.com profile] mizzlaurajean would have liked the Tiki-Bar bike.

I was a bit surprised to see a drunken Dick Cheney (puppet) swaggering down the street, threatening to shoot us all with an oversized hunting rifle. I was truly delighted when the honorable R.T. Rybak rode up on his bicycle and began inciting the crowd to chant "PEACE NOW" until Cheney collapsed.

I liked our mayor before. Now I lurv him.

I'm going to have to start carrying my camera.

Is Vera's Garden still passable? It didn't look so good around midnight when we were walking home.

The very top of the garden is torn up, but the rest is just as it was. The path is passable the whole way.
