About names: I always supposed that lollardfish was a concatenation of: "LOL! Lardfish!" I have no context for "lardfish" at all, though if it's not a message-board insult, it sounds like the name of a spoof Grateful-Dead-style jam band.

But the other possible deconstruction is "Lollard-fish" which sounds like a heavy dose of Christian piety.

So, care to enlighten me, lollardfish (or anyone else, for that matter)?

Right.

So I did my senior thesis at Wesleyan on the Lollards, a group of proto-protestant heretics in late 14th, 15th, and early 16th century England.

My friend, creidylad, knew this. We hung out in various online communities, and I had the habit of typing, "fish" for no reason at irregular, but frequent, intervals.

Hence, she used to call me Lollardfish.

And at some point I was casting about for an online name, used it, and have been using it ever since. It's silly, but it's always available as a username. Moreover, there was a Red Sox player named Tim Lollar, so I can even use it on redsox boards!

I had a great time last night, so thank *you*. I was pleased that I got to meet your sister (albeit too briefly).

And of course, nothing compares to cuddling the tiny buttonfish. He was even done getting sick on people by the time I got to hold him. :)
