Feb. 23rd, 2007 03:19 pmAbout names: I always supposed that
lollardfish was a concatenation of: "LOL! Lardfish!" I have no context for "lardfish" at all, though if it's not a message-board insult, it sounds like the name of a spoof Grateful-Dead-style jam band.
But the other possible deconstruction is "Lollard-fish" which sounds like a heavy dose of Christian piety.
So, care to enlighten me,
lollardfish (or anyone else, for that matter)?

Date: 2007-02-24 04:41 pm (UTC)So I did my senior thesis at Wesleyan on the Lollards, a group of proto-protestant heretics in late 14th, 15th, and early 16th century England.
My friend,
Hence, she used to call me Lollardfish.
And at some point I was casting about for an online name, used it, and have been using it ever since. It's silly, but it's always available as a username. Moreover, there was a Red Sox player named Tim Lollar, so I can even use it on redsox boards!
Thanks for coming last night.
