And another week flies by....

Odd little things that I've learned this week:

• If you yell a string of curses and gobbledygook at the MN-DOT voice recognition program, it connects you to a customer service representative
  
• Cheap modern windows are much worse than old windows in at least one sense: if the old ones don't work properly, you can take them apart and repair them (I could probably extrapolate beyond windows here)
  
• Making polenta is a pain in the arm
  
• Having a truly flat surface is a necessity for tuning fine woodworking tools and sharpening stones
  
• Chisels are much more versatile and precise than I ever realized
  
• Bus stops are fluid things
  
• The odor of poly-oil permeates everything and takes a long time to go away
  
• So does the odor of raw onions, particularly when allowed to soak into one's hands (okay, so I knew this one before)
  
• Extremely lean ground beef is less than ideal for sloppy-joe making
