Marble Bicycle: 5/1989 - 10/27/2006
Oct. 30th, 2006 10:49 amMy beloved Marble, the most wonderful cat I've ever known, died early Friday morning. He had been my companion since I was fifteen, more a familiar than a pet. We grew up together.
Although he was seventeen years old, he still acted vibrant and kittenish right up until the last few days. As far as we knew he was perfectly healthy. His death was a terrible shock.
Eric is taking this very hard. Obviously I am as well. I don't really know what else to say.

Date: 2006-10-31 03:54 am (UTC)Living life well until the end is something to be thankful for--a friend of mine lost her cat after a long illness. But losing someone suddenly is a harsh fact to deal with. Take care of yourselves!

Date: 2006-10-31 05:17 am (UTC)when i met Marble, i thought exactly that -- here was the essence of a familiar spirit, in a spectacular feline form. drifting to sleep on the floor just after meeting him, i expected him to instruct me in the art of mousing, like merlyn's archimedes in th white. but, he must not have been feeling didactic that evening; nary a word.
perhaps he's really just taken another, non-housecat form, and has gone to be some other needful person's familiar spirit? maybe as a puma, or a panther in africa, this time?
ma'am, i'm very sorry. Marble was a splendiloquent institution in my mind, mapped with high priority to cats and catness, for all that i knew him very little. many many condolences.
